About

BESLS’s Organization Mission: The Brooklyn Entertainment & Sports Law Society (BESLS) is one of the largest student-run organizations at Brooklyn Law School. BESLS aims to provide a networking system for law students with an interest in fields associated with sports and entertainment law (including, but not limited to, film & television, music, theater, and publishing). BESLS promotes the cultivation of a diverse student community throughout the Law School by sponsoring various events (including panels and symposia), educational initiatives, and facilitating partnerships with academic and professional organizations on and off campus. Membership in BESLS is open to all Brooklyn Law School students, and we regularly involve our illustrious alumni at our events.

Please Support BESLS: Donations will be used towards general body meetings, symposia, and panels that cover topics in sports, film/tv, music, theater and more! These events serve as a great tool for students interested in learning more about any of these topics. Students can engage with the panelists through Q & A’s and in turn connect and form relationships with industry leaders. Specifically, we are particularly proud to host Brooklyn Law School’s only student-run symposia. Our Fall Sports Law Symposium and Spring Entertainment Law Symposium are CLE-accredited and each feature various panels and a keynote address on “hot bed” topics affecting each of these fields. These are the highlights of our semester, and your donation would help us to continually put on amazing events!

Donations would also go towards supporting the BESLS Competition Team to send aspiring sports agents, music executives, and entertainment moguls to negotiation competitions around the country. Each competition provides a unique opportunity for non-ADR students to refine their negotiation, business, and advocacy skills, in addition to networking with some of the top attorneys in the industry. Additional funding would allow BESLS members to jumpstart their careers and make tangible strides towards their aspirations. This year, BESLS was able to send teams to four competitions and we even placed in two! These include Villanova Baseball Filing Day Competition (Quarterfinalists), Syracuse Hall of Fame Negotiation Competition (Semifinalists), Fordham Basketball Negotiation Competition, and Cardozo Invitational Negotiation on Entertainment, Media, and Art Competition.

Thank you so much for supporting BESLS!
